Gala Games is a platform that utilizes blockchain technology in gaming. It specifically focuses on a new type of games, called "play to earn". Gala achieves this goal through the use of player-owned NFT assets, as well as distributing GALA tokens to players. Gala's games also follow the "free-to-play" model, meaning that there is no barrier of entry for new players.
Gala Games platform was built on top of the Ethereum blockchain, but it has already migrated to Binance Smart Chain. It is secured by a unique triple-proof node system. Nodes based on the Proof-of-Stake consensus are called "paid nodes". They operate specific games through renting smart contracts. The last type of nodes are "free nodes". The work on the Proof-of-Storage protocol. Anyone can run these nodes and receive a small reward for doing so. Free nodes are needed to maintain a decentralized game hosting system.
Gala Games was founded by Eric Schiermeyer, a co-founder of Zynga. Zynga is a mobile game developer known primarily for their widely popular Farmville game series.
GALA is an ERC-20 utility token native to the Gala Games ecosystem. It is used mainly for purchasing NFT assets from the Gala marketplace. GALA is also used to buy Founder Nodes. GALA is expected to gain more functionality, as the Gala Games ecosystem expands. The tokens are purchasable on different exchange platforms, as well as gained as rewards to node operators.
