Huobi Token is the native token of Huobi Global, one of the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges. It was launched by Huobi Exchange in January 2018. Within 15 days, 300 million HTs to its users with discounts. Huobi Token holders get many privileges and utilities in Huobi’s ecosystem. Huobi Token holders get to participate in the governance and voting of new listings on Huobi’s exchange. They also get additional opportunities to buy tokens of projects at early stages through their platform. Voters of a particular project’s events on Huobi also receive rewards and airdrops from these projects for voting.
Like all other exchange tokens, Huobi has also established a utility of its token by providing discounts to Huobi Token holders. Unlike Binance, they have created a structured tiering system for mostly wealthy investors where 50% off on trading fees is offered for holding 12,000 HTs. Huobi has a clear motive with this structure to attract more institutional investors to their platforms.
These two utilities are designed to attract investors to invest in both new and old crypto projects. These utilities offer more opportunities for both new and old crypto companies to better engage with Huobi and its customers. Huobi has also designed a buyback program where they buy 20% of the exchange profits and lock them away in an Investor Protection Fund.
