Quant

The Quant Network aims to achieve interoperability between different blockchains. The main goal of Quant is to develop an industry-standard technology and provide ways to adapt existing technologies to it. To achieve this goal, Quant has introduced a novel technology, called the Overledger. The Overledger is a blockchain operating system. It allows for the creation of multi-chain applications (MApps), bridging the gap between blockchains. Quant's technology supports many major blockchains, such as Ripple, Ethereum, and Bitcoin.

The Overledger operates by redistributing tasks over four different layers. The transaction layer deals with operations that are required to reach a consensus on a blockchain. Transactions on a specific blockchain only exist and are valid on the same blockchain. As such the transaction layer is separated into different and isolated ledgers.

The messaging layer retrieves logical data from ledgers. The data ranges from smart contracts and transaction data to metadata. The messaging layer then stores all this information.

The filtering and ordering layer builds connections between messages using data from the messaging layer. It also validates out-of-chain messages.

The application layer is the top layer of the system. Applications accept valid messages and can communicate with each other. They also set rules that specify which information need to be extracted from transactions, and how they will be ordered.

Quant Overledger API allows developers to create MApps without specialist DLT knowledge. All Quant MApps are fully interoperable, as such no further integration with other DLTs is needed. Quant also ensures that the compatibility and stability of MApps will be maintained, even if the underlying DLT changes.

The QNT token provides access to the Quant network Overledger system. It is an ERC-20 token that launched with a total supply of 45.467 million QNT. Through its many burns, the current supply stands at about 14.6 million QNT and is not subject to change in the future. QNT is to stay at a number of tokens close to 2/3 of the total supply of BTC. QNT is a primary source of payment for the Overledger license and any additional services.
